Helvar Oy Ab has officially announced the signing of the largest contract in the company’s 105-year history. The landmark agreement was signed with Rönesans, one of Türkiye’s foremost construction companies, and leverages the deep local expertise of Helvar’s Premier Partner, Elekon Energy Systems, for an extensive high-security government project spanning approximately 2 million sqm.

A partnership built on trust and proven success

The contract signifies Helvar’s continued expansion in the strategic Turkish market. This new undertaking builds upon an established track record in the country, including monumental projects such as Istanbul Airport (one of the world’s largest DALI implementations), Başakşehir Çam & Sakura Şehir Hastanesi (Türkiye’s largest hospital), and Galataport (the world’s first underground cruise terminal). These references showcase a long-term commitment to unparalleled quality and technical expertise.

“This agreement marks a significant milestone. This contract is a profound validation of the trust and synergy between Helvar, Elekon Energy Systems, and Rönesans”, said Kim Långström, CEO of Helvar. “It confirms our strategy of working with the best local partners to deliver world-class intelligent lighting control solutions that meet the complex demands of large-scale infrastructure – and truly stand the test of time.”

Driving sustainability and intelligence

The new project, described as a major government sector development, will feature Helvar’s advanced intelligent lighting control solutions to ensure long-term sustainability, significant energy savings, and enhanced automation. The integration of building systems at this scale represents a pioneering step in the fields of smart building management and sustainability.

The signing ceremony was held in Ankara, Türkiye, with Helvar CEO Kim Långström; Safak Koc, General Director of Elekon Energy Systems; Pirkko Hämäläinen, Head of Mission and Finland’s Ambassador to Türkiye; and Nilufer Alapinar, Senior Advisor and Assistant Trade Commissioner for Business Finland.

The realisation of this contract was significantly bolstered by the strategic support of Business Finland. Their facilitation played a vital role in strengthening the collaborative ecosystem between Finnish innovation and Turkish infrastructure demands, ensuring a smooth negotiation process.

Safak Koc, General Director of Elekon Energy Systems, commented: “Working alongside Helvar, we have consistently brought advanced, reliable technology to the Turkish market. This record contract is a testament to the seamless integration and shared vision for building the future of intelligent infrastructure here, and to the many people and teams whose work makes projects like this possible.”

As construction progresses, this partnership is set to establish a new benchmark for sustainable, intelligent building performance in the region.
