Trojan Lighting Solutions has completed a major LED lighting upgrade at Westquay Shopping Centre, Southampton. The project covered both back-of-house and car park areas and involved the production and supply of more than 4,500 new luminaires.
The installation is the first project in the world to deploy the new Mymesh Ready Tridonic driver. This breakthrough embeds Mymesh software directly into the LED driver, removing the need for external control nodes. The result is faster installation, reduced hardware costs, less plastic waste, and a secure wireless backbone ready for smart building integration.
By combining advanced wireless controls with efficient LED technology, the upgrade will:
- Halve lighting energy consumption compared to the previous fluorescent system
- Cut ongoing maintenance requirements through self-test emergency lighting
- Provide live compliance and energy reporting via the Mymesh system
The project, carried out in partnership with GA Harpers and BCG, reflects centre-owner Hammerson’s ongoing commitment to improving energy efficiency and sustainability across its estate.
Anthony Barrow, Managing Director of Trojan Lighting, said: “Westquay is a flagship retail destination, and this project shows how innovation in lighting can deliver real-world results. By using the Mymesh Ready driver for the first time, we’ve delivered a system that is not only more efficient but also provides the foundations for a truly smart building.”
