The 9^th edition of the UNESCO International Day of Light (IDL) takes place on 16^th May 2026. IDL aims to raise awareness of the applications of light science and technology for society, as well as promoting science education through the accessible subject of light. For 2026, IDL will be encouraging activities structured around the theme of Light for a Sustainable Future. This theme highlights the significant role of light-based technologies in advancing sustainable development. Activities can be registered on the IDL website.
