Ovia has launched a new, advanced Lighting Design Calculator – an easy-to-use online tool developed to support contractors, wholesalers, and specifiers in designing effective, regulation-compliant lighting schemes with ease and efficiency.

Free to use and accessible to electrical contractors, M&E consultants and industry professionals, the new Lighting Design Calculator can now be used on Ovia’s website – www.oviauk.com/lighting-design-calculator.

The calculator allows users to generate accurate lighting calculations and layout in minutes. By simply inputting room dimensions, the tool delivers a luminaire plan, including the required quantity and optimal layout. Results can be downloaded or emailed, offering flexibility and easy reference for project planning and on-site installation. It will help contractors quickly determine the optimal number and placement of luminaires for a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Complementing this is the Energy Calculator, designed to help users assess the benefits of upgrading existing lighting systems. The tool calculates annual energy savings in KWH, CO2 emissions, and costs, highlighting the environmental and financial benefits. Results can be downloaded or emailed for easy tracking and sharing.

In addition, Ovia offers a free lighting and connection design service. The aim is to provide expertise in choosing the right products and solutions to create a scheme that meets all the requirements and objectives of the project in question, and that is compliant with all the relevant regulations and standards.  During the process all the required information for each project is gathered by the lighting design team.  This may involve a site visit and will include a full set of scaled drawings in either DWG or PDF, which should include elevations/sections, plus specifications that cover all aspects of lighting including emergency lighting and luminaire selection.

Whether it’s a new construction project or a retrofit, Ovia works directly with contractors to provide efficient, code-compliant lighting plans that minimise project delays and maximise customer satisfaction.
