Michael Grubb Studio have kicked off 2023 with an impressive number of design award shortlists, nominations, and wins, which highlights the studio’s ongoing success.

The most recent commendation comes as five of the studio’s lighting design projects have been shortlisted in The Developer and Festival of Place Pineapple Awards 2023: Circus Street, Brighton, Claremont Park, Brent Cross Town, Alfred Place Gardens, Camden, London, Strand Aldwych Public Realm, Westminster, London, and Brent Cross Town, London.

Two of Michael Grubb Studio’s projects were also awarded in the Civic Trust Awards 2023. The winning project was Bath Abbey Footprint, while Arts University Bournemouth Student Accommodation was highly commended. The judges commented that the designs were well considered, well planned, and well executed.

The studio was also proud to be awarded Best New Development in the MIPIM Awards 2023 for the lighting design for Roots in the Sky, London. The building will make a significant contribution to London’s ambitious targets for greening, biodiversity and sustainability.

Lightplay, a permanent, lit interactive route along the Torquay seafront, was shortlisted at both the [d]arc awards, in the Spaces: High Budget category, and the Surface Design Show Awards 2023, in the Light and Surface Exterior category.

Michael Grubb Studio delivered the lighting scheme for the Intelligence Factory in Bletchley Park Trust, which has been shortlisted in the Permanent Exhibition of the Year category of the Museums + Heritage Awards 2023, with the winners set to be announced in May 2023.
