In May 2023, K-LITE completed a lighting installation at Ahmedabad International Airport, building on the success of a previous project with the Adani Airport Holdings. Having previously collaborated on the airport’s VIP GA Terminal, K-LITE was once again asked to provide bespoke lighting solutions – this time for a broader and more complex scope across Terminals 1 and 2.
K-LITE was invited by the Adani Airport Project Management Team (comprised of in-house architecture and MEP experts) to present their comprehensive indoor and outdoor product range. Following a well-received presentation, K-LITE were instructed to illuminate critical areas of the airport in an ongoing enhancement programme.
This was a twofold project: Terminal 2, where both indoor and outdoor illumination was required, and Terminal 1, which focused on outdoor parking and the forecourt.
One of the most challenging elements of the project was the lighting of the arrival and departure forecourt at Terminal 2. These areas of the airport feature flexible stretch fabric systems designed to provide shading and architectural flair. To highlight these structures without overwhelming them, K-LITE developed a customised indirect lighting solution. Drawing on their Nebula series, the KL-4268-12W fixture was adapted and mounted on a bespoke circular ring placed within a cylindrical framework, delivering softer, ambient illumination that enhances the fabric’s form and construction.
Inside Terminal 2, lighting needed to be both consistent and comfortable. The KL-7576 Cylin surface-mounted downlights were specified for the check-in counters, arrival and departure lounges, and waiting areas. These luminaires ensured uniform illumination levels while maintaining the clean, modern aesthetic of the terminal.
For Terminal 1’s forecourt and parking areas, K-LITE once again demonstrated their ability to customise products for project-specific needs. The KL-4288 Navi luminaire was installed with a special RAL finish to blend with the architecture of the surrounding food court and departure area. Additionally, Cylin up-down lights KL-3654 were used to enhance architectural features and vertical surfaces and the K-lite Post Paramount was used to illuminate the approach road to Terminal 1.
This project perfectly highlights K-LITE’s end-to-end capabilities. From product development and customisation to technical consultation and on-ground implementation. Appointed directly by the client, K-LITE worked closely with the Adani Airport team to ensure that each lighting element met strict functional, aesthetic, and sustainability criteria.
By offering customised adaptations of their existing product range, K-LITE provided flexibility and a design-driven approach, particularly in the indirect lighting scheme for the fabric structures. Through precision-engineered products and close client collaboration, K-LITE remains committed to illuminating spaces that inspire.
