Ayrton is proud to remain a headline sponsor for BikeFest Spain 2026 in its fifth edition, having held that position since BikeFest Spain’s inception in 2022.
Ayrton is also very proud to announce that four-time World Champion para-cyclist and three-time gold medalist Paralympian, Mathieu Bosredon, whom Ayrton has sponsored since 2025, will be cycling the Challenge on Ayrton’s behalf.
Mathieu, who was the highest gold medal winner for France in the 2024 Paralympics, will be joined by Ayrton’s own Global Sales Manager, Massimo Bolandrina, and Sandra Nazé from Ayrton’s Inside Sales, for the 384km race, with each team member taking on a separate day and cycling over 110km per day.
BikeFest is an annual event organised by PLASA and #WeMakeEvents which first originated 8 years ago. The event raises money for technical entertainment industry charity, Backup Tech, with last year’s BikeFest Spain raising over £45,000.
The teams started off from Valencia on Friday 30th January for the 3-day ride, reaching the finishing line outside the South entrance to Fira Barcelona on Sunday 1st February after meeting with challenging weather conditions.
“It made perfect sense to me to take part in BikeFest Spain as part of my partnership with Ayrton,” explains Bosredon. “I think it’s important at shared sporting events like these to make the connection between sport and the world of business, so that people can understand why Ayrton chose to partner with me, and highlight our shared values. At BikeFest Spain, people embraced the project that Ayrton and I had together, and that will inspire others to do similar. And then, of course, it’s cycling… I don’t see how I couldn’t have come!”
BikeFest Spain also gave Bosredon an opportunity to reciprocate the support he has often received in his career. “I’ve cycled a lot for myself up until now, but at this stage in my career I think it’s important to give something back,” he says. “I’ve been helped by associations in the past: they bought me bikes and lent support at crucial times. Sometimes, if you don’t have that network of associations to help you along the way, it can be very difficult. I know how important it is, and now I have the chance to give something back, so I’m doing it.”
The weather conditions really put the team to the test this year, but it just served to increase the camaraderie and bond between the cyclists. “I really enjoyed riding these three days,” says Bosredon. “Unfortunately the weather meant we couldn’t ride one day, but that’s how it is in sport. However, it also gave us a day where we could share, discuss, discover a little about each other’s jobs and lives, so it was enriching and it allowed me to speak English, which is a weakness for me! I got to meet Massimo and Sandra from the Ayrton team, we had some beautiful weather in Spain and we ate well – it was a fantastic three days!”
A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in BikeFest Spain 2026.
“Since 2022, the first edition of BikeFest (Barcelona) – #WeMakeEvents Campaign, we’ve been proud to support BikeFest as its Headline Sponsor, standing alongside our community and the people who drive our industry forward,” says Ayrton CEO, Michael Althaus. “Coming right after Covid, we felt it was more important than ever to stand by our industry, to support the people who make it thrive, and to contribute in any way we could to initiatives that bring us together.”
Michael added: “Our support for Backup Tech is a natural extension of that commitment. We believe deeply in the work they do for our community, and we’re grateful to riders like Mathieu, whose dedication and spirit embody the values we stand for.”
