CAPE CROSS Entertainment Services GmbH is a technical full-service provider for film, TV, shows, events and sports based in Cologne. In 2025 it is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The company provides lighting, sound, rigging, cranes, stage and post-production technology for events and TV productions of all sizes, and ensures smooth operations.
At the end of last year, the company expanded its portfolio of professional lighting technology with a major investment in GLP’s new impression S500 spotlights. CAPE CROSS is one of the first companies to use both the S500 Profile and the Wash variant, offering even more powerful and flexible lighting solutions for TV, show and live productions.
The new fixtures have already been used in several high-profile productions, including TV Total Promi Wrestling at the beginning of January 2025, the 1LIVE Krone at the end of 2024 and the TV show Three against One, which went into production at the end of February 2025. The impression S500s made a significant contribution to the visual staging, particularly on TV Total Promi Wrestling on ProSieben (with lighting design by atacan design).
impression S500 as a logical development of the impression S350
“The S500 is the logical further development of the S350,” explains Manuel Meloh, Managing Director of CAPE CROSS. “The S350 has long been a reliable and established solution in the TV market, especially for studio productions. Ideal for shorter distances, the output is sometimes a little too low for projects with distances of 8 to 10 m. The S500 closes this gap by combining higher light output with the usual first-class light quality.”
CAPE CROSS predicts great potential for the new S500 Series: “We assume that the devices will be in high demand in the TV segment,” continues Manuel. “They are also an exciting solution for medium-sized show formats and the corporate market. Its versatility, colour quality and performance make the S500 attractive for a wide range of applications.”
In addition to investing in the new S500 models, CAPE CROSS has also further expanded its inventory of GLP impression X5s: “We have increased the number of X5s again and now have over 200 units,” adds Meloh. “The S500s complement our setup perfectly and enable us to create even more efficient and flexible lighting solutions.”
In addition to the product features, a key factor in the purchasing decision was the long-standing and close collaboration with GLP – in particular with GLP key account director Oliver Schwendke. “Olli and I have known each other for almost 20 years,” emphasises Manuel. “Working with him is open, trusting and very pleasant. We get quick and well-considered answers to all questions. This trust and reliability is extremely important for us as a service provider.”
