The lighting industry’s most forward-thinking event returns as the organiser Recolight reveals the programme for Circular Lighting Live 2026, a showcase of innovation, sustainability and circular design.

Taking place on Thursday 8th October 2026 at the Minster Building in the City of London, the event promises to challenge ‘business as usual’ industry models and explore practical solutions for a low carbon future. It will feature fresh new formats and exciting interactive features.

The one-day multitrack conference will also incorporate the presentation ceremony of the prestigious Build Back Better Awards 2026 and an expansive exhibition where pioneering brands will unveil innovations in sustainable lighting.

At the heart of this year’s conference is Vision 2040: Restructuring the lighting sector, where the keynote speaker will imagine a world beyond the take-make-use-waste model. Will inventory live in ceilings rather than warehouses? Could lumens be delivered on subscription? And is a fully circulating, zero-waste ecosystem finally within reach?

Following the keynote presentation, delegates can choose from six specially curated sessions to get the most out of the day.

Glamox will showcase its latest connected luminaires and systems, including new, award-winning designer office lights, innovative outdoor lighting, and a groundbreaking industrial high bay family at Light + Building in Frankfurt. The international trade fair for lighting and building technology will take place from 8th to 13th March 2026. A major focus at its stand in Hall 3, E40, will be the latest version of the Glamox Wireless Radio lighting control system and a new cyber-secure Glamox Ethernet2DALI controller, ideal for defence applications and for any building where an ultra-reliable, robust connected lighting system is essential.

“The theme of our stand is ‘lighting for people, places and purposes’, and 100% of our luminaires on display are either connected or connectable,” said Astrid Simonsen Joos, Group CEO of Glamox. “Our focus on smart lighting includes the latest versions of our wired and wireless lighting controls.

An interactive table enables visitors to get hands-on and engage directly with how connected lighting systems function in practice and how they interact with Building Management Systems. Interaction is more topical than ever, as the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive requires building systems to monitor and report energy consumption for lighting. Significantly, we can monitor this either through our own system or via integration into a Building Management System.”

Glamox hero products at Light + Building include:

Luxo Align is a family of freestanding floor and pendant office luminaires blending Scandinavian minimalist design with individually controllable light levels and colour temperatures. The environmentally friendly luminaires are made using recycled aluminium, and the freestanding versions feature a specially developed sensor for presence detection and daylight harvesting, ensuring energy-efficient operation. The stylish office luminaires, which provide upward and downward light, can eliminate the need for ceiling lights. Luxo Align has already received the award for best industrial design at the IDC.25 Awards, in Norway.

Glamox i65 is a family of powerful new LED high bay lights designed to meet the needs of a new breed of mega-warehouses and industrial plants with high ceilings of up to 20 metres. Providing 180 lumens per watt and over 70,000 lumens of light output, i65 meets the highest requirements for energy efficiency and uniform brightness. The groundbreaking high bay has recently won the German Design Award 2026 in the category ‘Excellent Product Design – Lighting’.

Glamox O40 is a family of innovative outdoor luminaires that are ideal for parks, pathways, minor streets, and residential areas. Their high efficiency ensures superior illumination while significantly reducing energy consumption and operational costs. In harmony with nature, the O40 has a Dark Sky variant that helps prevent light spillage and is Dark Sky International-certified. The O40 is good news for those who enjoy starlit evenings and for nocturnal wildlife.

Glamox Wireless Radio is an installer-friendly and highly scalable lighting control that offers the fastest commissioning of wireless lighting available. Installers can complete pre-commissioning before site visits, and the system’s ability to find and commission up to 10 luminaires simultaneously has been proven to reduce commissioning time by more than half. It operates at 868 MHz and integrates with Building Management Systems via standard protocols. Glamox Wireless Radio is ideal for retrofit and other projects where customers want to avoid the cost and complexity of cabling, minimise disruption, and achieve quick commissioning. It has also been used on new builds such as Construction City in Oslo, a building of more than 100,000 square metres.

Glamox Ethernet2DALI is the latest cyber-secure version of Glamox’s Ethernet2DALI controller is DNV-certified to Security Level 2 (SL2), offering protection against deliberate attacks from malicious actors and systems. This hard-wired controller is ideal for most defence and security applications, such as military bases and warships, as well as hospitals, data centres, industrial facilities, and any building that requires an ultra-reliable, robust connected lighting system.

Albany Entertainment Centre (AEC) is a contemporary performing arts and events venue famous for its stunningly cool architectural design, located on the waterfront in Albany, about 420 km south‑east of Perth in Western Australia, which has upgraded the auditorium lighting of its main theatre space – Princess Royal Theatre – from incandescent sources to LED, utilising over 100 Anolis luminaires picked from different Ambiane ranges.

The Anolis fixtures were supplied via Anolis’ Australian distributor, Jands, and the project was overseen for them by architectural specialist Eddie Galak, who designed the new lighting scheme from scratch in conjunction with AEC’s technical manager, Erik Loew.

The 618-seat Princess Royal Theatre now has 14 Anolis Ambiane XP56s, 48 Ambiane SP16 ‘tiltable’ fixtures and 24 Ambiane HP111s illuminating the main auditorium. Thirty XP56 Ambiane Pendant remotes are rigged in AEC’s studio space also for audience lighting.

Work on the project had started pre-COVID, initially envisioned as a white LED installation for the seating area. However, as the cleaning lights also needed to be upgraded – requiring 300 lux minimum – it made sense to achieve this using the same system if possible.

Everything then shifted to RGBW when Erik recognised the value of house lighting that could deliver excellent whites while also being integrated into the stage lighting control for specific events, immersing the audiences in colour and atmosphere and making them part of the action!

A colour-changing LED option had the further scope of being offered to visiting productions to embellish or blend in with their stage lighting if required.

As Australia’s ‘Great Southern’ region’s main multi‑purpose theatre space, AEC hosts a diverse range of productions and events, from touring shows and concerts to community events and conferences.

At the front of the stage and on the bridge above the orchestra pit in the Princess Royal Theatre, the XP56s are fitted with 20-degree reflectors and louvres. Underneath the first catwalk are six XP56s with 45-degree reflectors and six with 20-degree reflector plus louvres. On the second catwalk are eight fitted with 60-degree reflectors.

Twelve of the recessed HP111s have 60-degree reflectors and yokes, and 12 have the 60-degree reflector without the yoke, all with the 2700K white chip.

One of the challenges of the overall lighting design was to make the new installation look and feel like the old one while naturally being far more efficient.

To reduce time and physical impact of the new lighting scheme, the existing positions were re-used, including the ones on the lighting bridge undersides and those recessed in the ceiling, and these were combined with new ones created where needed.

There was a specific requirement to ensure the new under-balcony lighting seating areas mimicked the look the previous globe fixtures had produced, which the Anolis installation achieved, together with the addition of some new positions for additional fixtures underneath the back of the dress circle.

In the Kalyenup Studio, a flat-floor, flexible area accommodating up to 200 people for events, the Ambiane XP56 Pendants are attached to points that have been chemically fixed into the ceiling, with the pendant version chosen to best match the aesthetic of the space.

Jands also supplied a Paradigm control system, which was another starting point for the new installation, explained Erik, as, together with other venues in Perth that are also run by the Arts & Culture Trust, they were keen to work with one supplier if possible. In addition, fixtures that could run on sACN were another requirement.

Everyone is impressed with the results, which are a substantial improvement. Erik and his colleagues are delighted: “It feels fresh, new and exciting to be working in this space again!” he enthused.

For Eddie, choosing Anolis was a bit of a no-brainer thanks to the wide selection of fixtures available and their different form factors.

“There is plenty of variety in the range to be able to place a light exactly where it’s needed,” he commented, highlighting how consistency is another huge advantage with Anolis, enabling both high and low ceilings to be lit with the same family of fixtures.

AEC’s electrical contractor Shane Congram from Castlehow Electrical Services completed the installation, working to plans and drawings supplied by Eddie and Jands. Erik commented that Shane and his team’s “work and commitment to the project” further helped deliver the excellent results of which everyone is proud.

This massive increase in flexibility has made the auditorium a more dynamic and interesting space, as well as tastefully and evenly lit, offering a vastly improved visitor experience. Erik – who also lights some of the incoming shows – has used the auditorium lights as part of a main show several times to great effect.

Erik also emphasised the importance of good service as part of the package, especially somewhere like Albany, which is far away from anywhere. “Jands is a good company with a great name that we know we can rely on for solid local and nationwide support,” he underlined.

Completed in 2010, the AEC complex was designed by Australian company COX Architecture and has won several awards. Its striking glass‑and‑steel form was intended to be a contemporary structural work of art on the harbourside, with the angular facade and extensive glazing references to the crystalline molecular structures of earth. It comes alive like a glistening giant cut diamond, transformed by absorbing and reflecting light as people move around.

Photo by Eddie Galak/courtesy of AEC.

The highly anticipated LiGHT Expo London returned for its fourth consecutive and increasingly successful year. As the UK’s only dedicated high-end lighting exhibition, LiGHT25 once again welcomed thousands of visitors to the Business Design Centre in London. Over two days, the 19th and 20th of November, the exhibition centre was transformed into a creative and collaborative hub.

A record number of 6,764 attendees braved the cold weather to attend this year’s show, demonstrating their unwavering support. LiGHT 25 brought together thousands of architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers, and specifiers, alongside hundreds of leading architectural and decorative lighting brands. Visitors attended inspiring talks and presentations from over 60 speakers, all while making new industry connections through creatively curated networking opportunities.

A key part of LiGHT’s success is that the exhibition is constantly evolving to attract new audiences in the sector and provide a unique offering. Launched for the first time at LiGHT25, the Technical Zone provided a dedicated showcase for brands at the forefront of urban lighting, commercial lighting, control systems, components and OEM, lamps and gear, and emergency lighting, giving visitors a vital platform to exchange expertise and explore the latest developments.

In the Decorative Zone this year, a special VIP Design Tour saw 23 leading interior design studios participate in a whistle-stop guided tour of the show. The design professionals were treated to introductions to 10 leading lighting brands suited to the interiors market, before heading to the lounge for further networking opportunities. The tour received high-praise from both attendees and the participating brands for providing a concise yet informative platform to explore the show and make connections.

This year’s show featured an expanded programme of innovation, education, and networking opportunities. Supported by Studio Due, the Associations Lounge once again acted as a shared base for leading industry bodies, including the DALI Alliance, The LIA, ILP, SLL and the IALD.

In six months, the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology opens its doors in Frankfurt am Main. From 8th – 13th March 2026, the industry will get together for the next edition of Light + Building. To date, some 2,000 companies from Germany and abroad – including numerous market leaders, specialist suppliers, and innovative newcomers – have confirmed their participation. The spectrum ranges from global market leaders to creative start-ups that are setting new trends in lighting and building-services technology.

The sector is in a state of flux: energy efficiency, digitalization, and sustainability are shaping the agenda, while companies are simultaneously responding flexibly to market changes, such as high construction and energy costs and international trade conflicts. And this is precisely where Light + Building has a vital role to play by linking up key issues, providing orientation and creating a framework for the international exchange of ideas and information.

“Light + Building 2026 is rapidly gaining momentum. We are delighted to report a high level of participation by numerous market leaders and great interest being shown by the sector. In particular, an international level of participation of around 70 percent demonstrates that the fair is regarded as an indispensable meeting place for the whole world. This high degree of confidence fills us with optimism, showing that – even in challenging times – Light + Building is a firm anchor and source of inspiration for the future of the sector,” says Steffen Larbig, Director of Light + Building.

Technologies for tomorrow’s built-up world

‘Be Electrified – Electrifying Places. Illuminating Spaces.’ is the motto of Light + Building 2026, underscoring the dual strengths of this international meeting place for the sector: intelligent energy infrastructure and sophisticated lighting solutions. While ‘Electrifying Places’ stands for connected buildings, smart control systems and energy efficiency, ‘Illuminating Spaces’ focuses on the creative power of light.

This is also linked to the three key themes of the trade fair – ‘Sustainable Transformation,’ ‘Smart Connectivity,’ and ‘Living Light’ – which reflect the main developments in the sector. ‘Sustainable Transformation’ shows ways to achieve a climate-friendly building sector, with renewable energies, intelligent energy management and resource-saving materials. ‘Smart Connectivity’ highlights the process of digital transformation, with connected systems, data-based control and interfaces that increase efficiency, safety, and comfort. ‘Living Light’ focuses on the emotional and creative dimension of light, as a defining element for human identity, well-being and spatial experience.

Visitors can discover the solutions offered by various exhibitors in the individual product segments. When it comes to lighting, the spectrum ranges from functional lighting for work, education, industry, as well as public spaces, to design-oriented luminaires that can be used to structure rooms and create the required atmosphere. Halls 3.0, 5.0, 5.1 and the Forum form the focal point for technical lighting, while Hall 3.1 focuses on design-oriented lighting. Hall 4.0 is dedicated to urban outdoor lighting, Hall 4.1 to emergency and safety lighting, and special luminaires. Decorative luminaires for private living areas, as well as hotels and restaurants, are to be found in Hall 6, while Hall 8 provides a platform for components, control systems and smart interfaces. This spectrum is complemented by the Asia Selection in Halls 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3.

Many key players have already confirmed they will be taking part. They include: AEC Illuminazione, Bega, Bender + Wirth, BJB, Carandini, Casambi, 3F Filippi / Targetti, Inotec, Kreon, Ledvance, LedsC4, Lichtwerk, Linea Light, Opple, Osram, Prolicht, Ridi, RZB, Schmitz Wila, Schuch, Signify, Simes, Trilux, XAL and Zumtobel.

At Light + Building, building-services technology demonstrates how energy, comfort and security can be combined to form a powerful overall system. Electrification and digitalization form the basis for tomorrow’s built-up world by enabling the integration of renewable energies, increasing efficiency and opening up new possibilities for smart buildings. In Halls 12.0 and 12.1, the spotlight is on solutions for electrical installations, the charging infrastructure, energy management, decentralized supply, as well as switchgear, cables, and photovoltaic components. Halls 11.0 and 11.1 are dedicated to automation platforms, control systems and networked energy distribution. Finally, Hall 9.0 brings together electrical engineering, home and building automation and security technology.

Numerous leading companies have also confirmed their participation in this segment. They include: ABB, Busch-Jaeger, Doepke, Gira, Hager, Hensel, Jung, Kaiser, KNX, Legrand, Mennekes, Niedax, OBO Bettermann, Phoenix Contact, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Spelsberg, Theben and Wago.

More than just a trade fair

In addition to classic trade-fair activities, Light + Building 2026 will also feature a diverse programme of events focusing on current trends, technological developments and design impulses. Forums, stages and interactive formats throughout the Exhibition Centre will provide a host of opportunities for the exchange of expert ideas and information.

One of the main highlights will be the Design Plaza in Hall 3.1, dedicated to lighting design with lectures, talks and curated formats for interior designers, architects, designers and lighting planners. There, Messe Frankfurt and Stylepark will present the ‘Designplus Awards powered by Light + Building’ for products that unambiguously combine design quality, technological innovation and sustainability. The awards are presented in several categories at a special ceremony – the Designplus label stands for design and technical excellence with international visibility. The Design Plaza programme also includes lectures on lighting trends for 2025/2026, by the bora.herke.palmisano style agency. During the runup to Light + Building, the agency’s designers identify the latest design trends that are set to shape the lighting industry in the coming season.

For the first time, Light + Building will also host the IALD International Lighting Design Awards, which are given for outstanding lighting projects from around the world. In addition, the Architects’ Day will provide specialist inspiration by specifically addressing the perspectives and requirements of planners.

The Workshop Street is practice-oriented and dialogue-focused. There, the focus is on application-oriented live demonstrations for the electrical trade: comprehensible, solution-oriented and geared towards everyday professional requirements. The social-media community will once again have its own platform with another edition of the successful Power Creator Days giving content creators from the lighting and building technology industry the opportunity to connect with trade visitors and exhibitors.

The ZVEI Technology Forum and the ZVEH E-House, which presents practice-oriented application scenarios in the form of a walk-in smart home, are central platforms for the exchange of ideas and information relating to building-services technology. The programme is rounded off by two exhibitor stages, where exhibitors can present their solutions in a compact and practical manner. Further formats are already in the planning stage and include contributions from the BTGA, as well as the House of Energy Congress, the IEECB Congress in the Portalhaus and a session organised by REHVA.

Light + Building – the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology.

Light + Building 2026 will take place from 8th to 13th March 2026.

CBG Light Perceptions recently worked on the restoration of the Blenheim Palace Orangery by designing an updated and efficient lighting scheme on a project that has received a prestigious 2025 RIBA South Award.

The Orangery, a refined and luxurious dining area in Blenheim Palace, is now once again open to the public for an authentically British experience. Well known for hosting one of Oxfordshire’s most elegant afternoon teas, the space also serves as an exclusive private venue for fine dining, weddings, and other special occasions.

This significant two-million-pound project on the Grade I listed building involved the replacement of the 19th-century glass roof with a solid insulated steel and slate design.

CBG Light Perceptions were tasked with overhauling the previous lighting design, which was known to generate glare and excessive brightness. Recognised for their sensitive and respectful approach to heritage conservation, CBG Light Perceptions has achieved a lighting design which complements the striking architectural textures of the new roof and captures the essence of the Orangery.

This award recognises the efforts of all involved as well as CBG Light Perceptions for reassessing the requirements of the space and coming up with an innovative, sustainable lighting solution to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the Orangery. The jury commented: “Boldly stepping away from an attitude of like-for-like repair typical in such a significant heritage setting, the project team at Blenheim Palace chose a new route for the design and delivery of the Orangery roof.”

Working closely alongside the client’s team, Historic England, the council, architects and interior designers on the comprehensive refurbishment, CBG Light Perceptions needed to consider a new lighting scheme that enhanced both the practicality and the exquisite atmosphere of the space. The design delivered significantly improved lighting throughout the Orangery while also providing a sustainable, low-energy approach. The new scheme ensures flexibility for a wide range of uses, with discreet spotlighting allowing for tailored setups during events, and a simple, pre-set dimming system enabling staff to effortlessly adjust lighting levels depending on the occasion.

The result is a sophisticated lighting solution that showcases the architectural fabric of the Orangery. The recognition of the overall project at the RIBA South Awards, held at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire in May 2025, is a testament to the care and collaboration invested in every element from all those involved.

Bruce Kirk, Director at CBG, added, “Successful lighting is built on a deep understanding of the space and close collaboration with the client and teams involved. Thoughtful project consultation with the client and stakeholders allows us to deliver tailored solutions that respect the heritage of a building while meeting the evolving needs of its users.”

TRILUX is proud to announce its latest project at TRIPOLIS Park in Amsterdam – a pioneering office campus that skilfully blends heritage-listed buildings with a striking new 11-storey structure. Developed by FLOW Development, the revitalisation focuses on user well-being, maximum sustainability and future-proof technology.

Tasked with delivering a smart, energy-efficient lighting solution across indoor and outdoor areas from a single source, TRILUX has installed approximately 13,000 light points. Standard luminaires – including 39er G3, Onplana, Lenty and Sonnos – were customised to meet the project’s unique demands. A standout feature is the So-Tube light sculpture in the foyer, while outdoor spaces and cascading roof terraces are elegantly illuminated by ConStela, 8841 bollard luminaires and Skeo Q units. These luminaires seamlessly integrate with the historic and modern elements of the campus.

Furthermore, 3,000 lights incorporate advanced TRI-Sensors that provide motion detection, daylight control and environmental data via a wireless mesh network, optimising the indoor climate and energy performance through a future-ready Smart Grid.

“At the start of the project, the specification focused on high-quality, glare-free light – without mentioning human centric lighting (HCL), which dynamically changes the light colour to mimic daylight and is perceived as particularly pleasant,” recalls Willem Dammers, CEO of TRILUX Benelux, who led the project. However, a demonstration convinced FLOW Development to include Tunable White luminaires with HCL throughout the campus. Employees can even adjust the light intensity or colour to suit their preferences via an app if desired.

TRIPOLIS Park has received numerous certifications and awards, supporting its position as a unique and pioneering office project. Its exceptional ratings in sustainability, design and user wellbeing include a BREEAM-NL “Outstanding” rating making it one of the most sustainable buildings in the Netherlands. The “Well Platinum” certification attests to the campus’ outstanding work environment, promoting mental, physical and social well-being for users.

The site is home to major tenants such as Uber and an international law firm, whose employees benefit from the exceptional design. Visitors and residents alike enjoy the spectacular architecture and the publicly accessible park.

Award winning London Luton Airport is poised for remarkable expansion to accommodate its growing air traffic and passenger influx. CU Phosco Lighting partnered with ATG Airports and Ryebridge Construction to deliver innovative lighting solutions and infrastructure for the airport.

Voted Europe’s best airport in ACI Europe Best Airport Awards, London Luton Airport (LLA) is one of the UK’s busiest airports, carrying over 16.2 million passengers in 2023. As part of its plans for responsible growth, LLA is undertaking an ambitious investment programme aimed at enhancing its infrastructure and improving the passenger experience.

One recent project saw the airport adding seven new serviced Code C stands and dedicated parking areas for Ground Support Equipment (GSE). These additions are vital for accommodating aircraft and improving operational efficiency. Several taxiways were realigned to optimise aircraft movement and reduce congestion as part of the infrastructure enhancement efforts. New fillets were also installed to improve the efficiency of aircraft taxiing and minimise wear and tear on the infrastructure.

The new infrastructure and layout required an advanced, energy-efficient and regulations-compliant lighting solution to keep lighting-associated energy costs low while ensuring the safety of passengers and airport personnel.

CU Phosco, in collaboration with ATG Airports and Ryebridge Construction, provided cutting-edge lighting solutions, high masts and lantern carriages tailored to LLA’s unique requirements.

The main goal was to ensure effective illumination of the new and existing stands utilising a mix of new high masts and existing masts, prioritising optimal visibility and safety for operations.

CU Phosco provided a comprehensive solution, leveraging the superior efficacy of the FL800D floodlights. With an impressive luminaire efficacy of 156lm/W, these floodlights ensure exceptional illumination while minimising energy consumption.

The FL800D floodlights offer versatility and efficiency for LLA. They are arranged on masts with full azimuth rotation and tilt function, allowing precise positioning to meet the project’s specific requirements. A selection of optical distributions, wattages and elevation angles result in a combined luminaire photometric output tailored to the project’s needs.

Additionally, the FL800D configurations come with built-in drivers, making them self-contained units that simplify installation and maintenance.

The complete solution consisted of three new 30m high masts, five new lantern carriages, and 36 FL800D floodlights.

By leveraging the benefits of the FL800D floodlights, lantern carriage design, and robust mast construction, CU Phosco delivered a lighting package that not only met the project’s stringent requirements but also ensures long-term reliability, efficiency, and safety for LLA.

Salvatore Cardinale, Project Manager at Ryebridge Construction, expressed satisfaction with the result, stating, “Working with CU Phosco has been instrumental in achieving our lighting objectives for London Luton Airport. Their manufacture and design expertise and the FL800D floodlights have significantly contributed to the success of this endeavour, ensuring optimal illumination and safety standards.”
