Michael Grubb Studio opens new London studio

Multi award-winning lighting design practice Michael Grubb Studio is excited to announce the opening of its second studio at the beginning of April (opened Monday 4 April).

The new Michael Grubb Studio office is located in London’s Metal Box Factory, which boasts a central location, within a creative hub environment. The London studio will bolster the company’s Bournemouth base, allowing for greater geographical coverage and an increase in resources.

The new London base is part of the business’s response to the studio’s rapid growth and success, following a significant rise in demand for UK and international collaborations for the Michael Grubb team.

Recent success includes an ‘Ultimate’ [d]arc award for the team’s lighting scheme at Bath Abbey, the project received the highest number of votes from designers across all the projects categories.

Mike Cascarino will take the helm of the London studio as the newly appointed Head of London Studio. Joining Michael Grubb Studio as a member of the senior management team, Mike will lead a new London-based team, drawing on his wealth of experience across many sectors. He will work closely with practice founder, Michael Grubb, to help drive forward a number of large commercial projects.

Michael Grubb, Founder and Managing Director of Michael Grubb Studios, said: “We’re thrilled to be expanding our operations and opening a London studio. The two studios will work hand-in-hand on many projects and will collaborate to deliver even better results for our clients.

“We’re also delighted to have Mike joining the team. He is highly-experienced, a great communicator, and a people person. He has an excellent background in lighting, infectious positivity, and his talent and ambition will no doubt help to drive forward the business.”

Speaking of his new role, Mike Cascarino said: “I’m excited to be joining Michael Grubb Studio at a time of significant growth, taking responsibility for the new London studio. With a fantastic portfolio of clients and lots of projects in the pipeline, it is a wonderful opportunity. I’m also looking forward to bringing together an expert team to support me in the London studio. Watch this space!”
