A major step forward for education in the lighting industry, this Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Lighting Design and Technology provides the recognised learning that will retain and attract talent in the lighting industry.

For this, its inaugural year the HNC will run as a part time course, across two years, cleverly designed and scheduled so that it can be completed while fully employed in the industry.

This first ever HNC in lighting being taught in the UK through the LIA and University of South Wales (USW), has been validated by the industry, with some the key players in lighting already enrolling students.

So what is it? The HNC comprises of modules covering the following subjects:

  • Lighting Fundamentals
  • Electrical Principles & Design
  • Light Sources & Luminaire Design
  • Lighting Design
  • Lighting Project Specification
  • Singleton Project

The course is predominantly delivered at the LIA Academy in Telford, but you won’t miss out on university life as one module is delivered at the USW.

Upon successful completion of the HNC course, students can progress to the Higher National Diploma (HND).

So whether starting or looking to develop your journey in lighting, can you afford not to find out more?
