The Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) is pleased to announce that Michala Medcalf has been appointed to the voluntary role of Vice President Local Authority. Michala, who began her lighting career in 2000, is currently a Street Lighting Manager for Derby Council.

Michala said ‘I am honoured and excited to become VP for Local Authority. In my previous experience with the ILP, especially as Chair to LDC Birmingham, I have developed a deep appreciation for what makes the ILP special and its continued commitment to supporting its members and the lighting industry.

We are the spiritual home of lighting, we are a world-leader in innovation, education and industry guidance, and we are excited to be playing a major role as we help local authorities to deliver public services during the demanding times ahead, engaging with one another towards shared goals and success.’

ILP Senior Vice President, Fiona Horgan commented ‘We are very excited to have Michala joining us as VP Local Authority, not only does she have experience from her years in local government but she has to passion to bring some real deliverables to the role which is the support not only our existing local authority members need but also the asset managers who need guidance on where to come for the right industry knowledge.’
