Tridonic is proud to announce it has been named Manufacturer of the Year (over £25 million) at the 2026 Inside Media Made in the North East Awards.

The winners were unveiled during a prestigious black-tie gala dinner held on 26th March 2026 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead. This accolade follows a rigorous judging process by an independent panel of industry experts, recognising Tridonic’s excellence in manufacturing and its commitment to innovation at its Spennymoor facility.

Its Spennymoor site manufactures for both the domestic UK market but also exports almost 46 percent of production to Europe and beyond. The judges were especially impressed that the R&D team, part of the 150-person strong team at Spennymoor, is responsible for generating about 12 patents per year, which solidifies Tridonic as a technology leader in intelligent lighting systems.

Richard Strode, Managing Director Tridonic UK, who attended the event, said “We are delighted to receive this recognition. It’s testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team in delivering high-quality, sustainable lighting solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers across the globe. We now look forward to attending the final later in the year.”

As a regional winner, Tridonic has now advanced to the national Made in the UK Awards final. There, the company will compete against premier manufacturers from across the country who have succeeded in their respective regional heats.

The Made in UK Awards final takes place on 19th November at the Science and Industry Museum, in London. The black-tie gala dinner will bring together the winners of Insider Media’s regional Made in Awards, at one of the largest national manufacturing award dinners.

Created by Whitecroft Lighting to improve the lighting and construction supply chain, Geopak™ slashes waste by reducing single-use packaging and increases product traceability with smart, connected devices.

The smart, reusable construction packaging and product-tracking system beat off competition from more than 10,000 entries from across 68 countries to secure an award for Service, System and Process Design, and Service Design.

Geopak™ delivers two major new benefits to the lighting and construction supply chain. Firstly, it enables greater trackability of lighting products and materials by delivering new levels of traceability, thereby improving efficiency and reducing losses.

Secondly, it radically reduces construction waste by introducing a new form of reusable packaging that is set to eliminate millions of kilograms of single-use packaging.

This is achieved by replacing traditional single-use cardboard with collapsible, reusable crates or totes that can be used repeatedly to transport materials.

Geopak™ also improves transportation efficiency by maximising space and allowing more lighting equipment to be transported per journey, while protecting luminaires and other valuable lighting equipment during transit.

Geopak™ is estimated to prevent 100,000 cardboard boxes from entering the construction supply chain over the next two years.

Matt Paskin, Solutions and Marketing Director at Whitecroft Lighting, said: “Everyone at Whitecroft Lighting is absolutely thrilled to have won such a prestigious international award and this is another demonstration of how Whitecroft is innovating all aspects of the lighting supply chain – from design through to delivery.

As a lighting manufacturer, it’s essential that we find new and innovative ways to embed sustainability, and not just through our commercial lighting products. With Geopak™ we’re addressing one of the industry’s biggest challenges, packaging waste, by using a smarter, reusable delivery system.”

The Silhouette Awards have announced the winners of the 2025–2026 programme, celebrating exceptional emerging talent from across the global lighting design industry.

Now in its fifth milestone anniversary year, the Silhouette Awards is a global mentorship programme dedicated to identifying, celebrating, and supporting the next generation of lighting design talent.
As the Silhouette Awards settles into the fifth anniversary year, the milestone reflects the lasting impact mentorship has had in shaping careers. Building on this foundation, the programme continues to look ahead – expanding international reach and creating new opportunities to support and inspire the next generation of lighting designers.

To bring the community together further (this time in person), the Silhouette Awards will host a special gathering during Light + Building 2026. The event will take place on 12th March at 12:00 at the Design Plaza, Hall 3.1 B40, offering mentors, mentees (past and present), partners, and industry professionals an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the programme’s continued growth and future ambitions.

LEDVANCE has been awarded the Gold Medal by EcoVadis for its outstanding sustainability performance. This achievement places the company among the top 5 per cent of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide and highlights LEDVANCE’s continuous commitment and progress in sustainability.

EcoVadis is an internationally recognised platform for evaluating sustainability performance. Companies are assessed in the categories of Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. LEDVANCE increased its overall score by ten points compared to the previous year, reaching 78 out of 100. In 2024, LEDVANCE earned the Silver Medal with a score of 68 points, despite EcoVadis’s increasingly stringent criteria that have made it much harder for companies to retain their previous medal status. In 2025, LEDVANCE not only maintained its Silver rating but also improved its score, achieving Gold status. This is a testament to the company’s strong and ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Significant improvements across all sustainability categories
LEDVANCE further enhanced its sustainability performance in all evaluated areas. The company achieved an outstanding result in the Ethics category, scoring 85 out of 100 points. The company also achieved excellent ratings in the categories of Environment (79 points), Labour and Human Rights (76 points), and Sustainable Procurement (73 points). This rating reflects the consistent implementation and ongoing development of LEDVANCE’s sustainability management system – a significant achievement, especially in light of EcoVadis’s more stringent criteria.

“The EcoVadis Gold Medal confirms our dedication to considering sustainability holistically and along the entire value chain. We are particularly proud that we were able to improve our results so significantly despite increased requirements,” explains Laura Fernández Gutiérrez, Product Sustainability Manager at LEDVANCE. “This award is both an incentive and an obligation to continue on our chosen path.”

LEDVANCE has participated in the EcoVadis rating since 2018 to transparently measure and strategically develop its sustainability performance. Receiving the Gold Medal for the first time underscores the high priority that sustainability holds within the company.

Scolmore Group is thrilled to announce that, following a formal review of its recent EcoVadis sustainability assessment, the company’s score has been successfully revised in line with the scoring principles and supporting evidence provided. This has resulted in an improved score within the Environmental theme and the prestigious award of an EcoVadis Gold medal, recognising Scolmore Group’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Scolmore Group’s overall sustainability score has increased significantly – from 66/100 in 2024, to 79/100 for 2025 – surpassing the threshold for Gold recognition under EcoVadis’ rating methodology. This achievement now places the organisation among the top 5 percent of over 150,000 companies globally assessed by EcoVadis.

A leading global provider of business sustainability ratings, EcoVadis evaluates companies across four core themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Recognised across more than 250 industries and 200 countries, EcoVadis assessments help organisations measure and improve their sustainability practices throughout their value chains. The EcoVadis rating has become a trusted benchmark for corporate responsibility, used by thousands of companies worldwide to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable business.

The EcoVadis’ business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard.

The ratings provide an evidence-based analysis on performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.

Medals are awarded on the basis of the following percentile benchmarks: Platinum Top 1 percent (99+ percentile), Gold Top 5 percent (95+ percentile), Silver Top 15 percent (85+ percentile) and Bronze Top 35 percent (65+ percentile). The Gold Medal underscores Scolmore Group’s commitment to embedding ESG (environmental, social and governance) considerations into its business operations, culture and long-term strategy.

Responsible for driving the EcoVadis sustainability initiative at Scolmore Group is Manuela Rubino Courtney, Group Legal and Compliance Manager. Commenting on the achievement, she said: “Achieving the EcoVadis Gold Medal is a major milestone for Scolmore Group and a clear recognition of the progress we have made across our environmental, social and ethical practices.
Being awarded Gold is not an endpoint, but an important marker on our ongoing sustainability journey. It reinforces our determination to continuously improve, set higher standards and make a positive impact across our operations and supply chain.

With this Gold Medal, Scolmore Group further strengthens its position as a trusted and responsible partner for customers and suppliers who place sustainability at the heart of their decision-making. The enhanced rating provides clear, transparent evidence of our commitment to responsible business practices, supporting stakeholders in making informed and confident supply-chain choices.”

Accepting the 2025 Latin Grammy Award for “Best Traditional Tropical Music Album” for her hit “Raíces,” the legendary Gloria Estefan thanked her husband and collaborator Emilio Estefan, by saying that their 50 years of making music together still felt “like the first day.”

The joyful, rejuvenating sentiment that animated the Miami Sound Machine co-founder provided a perfect metaphor for the 26th annual Latin Grammy Award ceremonies, which rocked the MGM Grand Garden Arena on 13th November. After more than a quarter of a century, the Latin Grammy Awards still feel fresh and original, with a vitality that makes everyone get on their feet and dance, dream and set their spirits free.

This was evident right from the get-go when the night’s honoree Carlos Santana kicked off the program with his iconic hit “Oye Como Va,” and was joined on stage by contemporary Latin music superstars like the program’s co-host Maluma, along with Barrera and Nodal.

A dynamic blend of old and new, including the first performance at the Latin Grammy Awards by a country star, Kacey Musgraves, the 2025 ceremony highlighted the diverse energy of this irrepressible musical genre.

Helping to capture that transformative energy during the three-hour telecast of the program for 42-million Univision viewers was an elegant, but potent Tom Kenny lighting design that featured 308 CHAUVET Professional fixtures supplied and installed by 4Wall Entertainment.

“Award shows like to show off the grandeur of a room — and the Latin Grammys has a grandfathered elegance to it all. A big video wall is essential, and the big beam looks give us a structure to show off,” said Tom, who praised his “A Team” of collaborators including LDs Felix Peralta, Fuji Convertino, and Joey Vineyar, along with a hardworking crew headed up by Alex Flores and John Ellar backed by Bob Suchocki.

Tom singled out the 134 Maverick MK3 Washes for pumping up a steady level of excitement throughout the program. “We used them for big audience looks,” he said. “They were the main work horses for Fuji and Felix when creating their powerful looks.”

Underscoring the many high intensity moments during the show were the rig’s 68 Color STRIKE M motorized strobe-washes. “We had the Color STRIKEs all over the rig for big power pushes and hits,” said Tom, who also used the RGB pixel mappable panel section of the fixture to contribute to the immersive monochromatic colour washes that transformed the stage at key moments.

Adding a geometric element to the stage that translated well for TV viewers were 106 COLORado PXL Battens. Kenny had 97 PXL Bar 16 units positioned on facias to emphasize a linear look. The remaining battens (nine PXL Curve 12 fixtures) were used in the background of the satellite stage.

“The PXL Curves worked very well on the satellite stage,” said Tom. “Some of the more ‘artsy’ artists like Joaquina and Elena Rose took full advantage of their cool effects.”

Artists from the “artsy” camp gracing the stage, along with urban stars like Bad Bunny and Karol G, not to mention música Mexicana stars like Pepe Aguilar and Carín León? Yes, indeed! This program highlights the beautiful diversity of Latin music… and some artful lighting design by a talented “A Team” ensured that it was done in style.
