Young Lighter of the Year 2014 announced

Janna Aronson, of Lichtkompetenz GmbH, was named as the Young Lighter of the Year by the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) at a special presentation event on November 20th 2014. The announcement was made at the Lux Awards 2014 dinner held at The Troxy, London. Impressing the Judges with her presentation and paper during the LuxLive exhibition at London’s ExCel Centre, Janna focused on the theme Daylight – Art – Atmosphere.

The other finalists included: Veronika Labancova (Isometrix) who won the Best Written Paper Award for Possible Impact of Aging Influence on Light Quality Perception by Human Beings; and James Duff (Arup) who was awarded Best Presentation for his presentation Any Objective Metric to Determine Subjective Light Adequacy? These specific Award categories were judged separately by the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP), and the Society of Light and Lighting respectively.

The Awards, now in their 20th year, provide a unique platform for young lighters and are open to all to enter. The Awards allow the young lighters to hold forth on a lighting subject, hone their presentation skills, and raise their profile within the industry. Each of this year’s finalists gave a 15-minute presentation to a full audience during the LuxLive event, following an introduction by SLL President John Ashton. The Young Lighter of the Year Awards were announced as part of the LuxLive Awards evening.

All four finalists’ video presentations can be veiwed on the SLL website here.

SLL is part of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). CIBSE was pleased to be a sponsor of LuxLive 2014. As the UK’s biggest lighting event, LuxLive provides an ideal opportunity to share knowledge and see innovation in this sector. This year’s event was no exception, with a successful exhibition and lively panel discussions.
