UCI creates light for Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein

The last couple of years has seen Urban Cottage Industries go from strength to strength.

Launched in 2009 by Stanley and Sophie in a one-bedroom flat, the company has now moved to bigger premises and has just taken on a number of prestigious contracts.

High profile customers include Levis, Reiss, Harvey Nichols, Hermès, Jamie Oliver restaurants, The Wolseley and Soho House Group were soon seeking out Stan and Soph’s lighting.

The duo are supplying Danny Boyle’s production of Frankenstein with a breath taking lighting creation.

‘Hanging over the heads of Frankenstein audiences at the National Theatre is a very large and quite unique lighting installation,’ says Stan. ‘More than a thousand of our filament light bulbs are suspended from 3 kilometres of fabric cable. It’s the biggest project we’ve supplied since the Martin Scorsese film and that was spread over nearly year of filming – this is all in one hit!’
