TRaC announced as first ZigBee Light Link test house

Leading global testing and compliance consultancy TRaC Global has announced it has been appointed as the first test house validated by the ZigBee Alliance to conduct ZigBee Light Link™ testing for the ZigBee Certified product program.

The announcement comes only days after the ZigBee Alliance completed ratification and launched the ZigBee Light Link standard, the lighting industry’s only global open standard offering wireless control for some of the world’s most efficient and flexible LED lighting solutions. TRaC’s appointment places it as the first organisation able to carry out the testing required in order to obtain ZigBee Certified product status for products using ZigBee Light Link.

Paul Russell, director at TRaC, commented: “We have played an instrumental part in bringing the ZigBee Light Link standard to market, having provided independent testing for the first ZigBee Certified products submitted by Atmel, Ember, OSRAM, Philips and Texas Instruments. This places TRaC in a unique position as the first ZigBee Light Link test house and is another great accolade to add to our portfolio and customer offering.”

TRaC is already a ZigBee Alliance recognised test house and has a high level of protocol experience having contributed to the development of ZigBee’s standards over the past five years through its involvement in the ZigBee Qualification Group and ZigBee Smart Energy Working Group. These first ZigBee Light Link product implementations tested by TRaC will now serve as a benchmark for future testing against the standard, ensuring compliance and interoperability across all vendors.

Jos Bruins, Philips – IP and Standardization and chair of the ZigBee Light Link working group, commented: “The ZigBee Light Link working group has enjoyed a successful relationship with TRaC for a number of years and once again the TRaC team has delivered. It has efficiently managed the ZigBee Light Link testing process and aided with the successful completion of the new standard.”

ZigBee Alliance is a membership body which promotes the use of ZigBee technology, the only standards-based wireless technology designed to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless sensor and control networks. The new ZigBee Light Link standard will allow consumers to gain wireless control over all their LED fixtures, light bulbs, timers and switches to remotely control ambiance and season, managing their energy consumption.
