Tom Dixon presents Multiplex

Officine Stendhai

Via Stendhal 35, Milano

British lighting and furniture company Tom Dixon will launch a new collection in a fresh new space, Officine Stendhal, as part of an exciting exhibition, Mulitplex for Milan Design Week 2011. Partnering with Blackberry, Tom Dixon is constructing a 400sq m installation incorporating the new collection with the BlackBerry PlayBook.

New products will include:

ETCH – a series of digitally manufactured shades, a candle holder and tower. Made by employing a hi-tech process used to produce electronic products, including circuit boards, the method allows for intricate patterns to be cut directly onto the metal. The new Etch Light is an impressive 100cm in diamater.

BULB – an energy efficient oversized light bulb designed in reaction to the phasing out of the incandescent bulb, and the unattractive aesthetic of most CFL replacements. The quick start T5 bulb is unique to Tom Dixon and the standard E27 thread means that it can be used with almost any fitting. Bulb can be used individually or as part of one of three new chandelier frames.

MULTIPLEX is a Tom Dixon designed pop-up viewing theatre, broadcasting centre, restaurant, shop and gallery, where you can explore the multifaceted world of Tom Dixon and the cutting edge technology of the Blackberry Playbook. A clear departure from the traditional exhibition booths typical during the Milan Design Week, where the convention is to show single prototypes, the aim is to create up to six working environments all in full use.
