The Society of Light and Lighting welcomes PLDA and IALD Professional Members

The Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) welcomes professional members of the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association (PLDA) or of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). The Society recognises that meeting the requirements for professional membership of the IALD and PLDA also serves to demonstrate the education and experience required of a professional member of the Society of Light and Lighting (MSLL). Members can apply by completing this form.

All professional members of the PLDA and IALD are welcome to apply to join the Society directly at Member grade (MSLL) by by completing this form  and emailing the Society’s Secretary, Brendan Keely, with a copy of their PLDA or IALD Professional Member certificate. In the case of PLDA members, applications should be received by 31st December 2014. Full details of the routes to membership can be found here.

SLL professional membership grades are Associate, Member or Fellow of the Society (ASLL, MSLL, FSLL).  Members of the Society will benefit from:

  • Access online to all SLL publications, including the Code for Lighting, Lighting Handbook and all Lighting Guides.  In addition, access online to the full range of Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) guidance
  • 50% off the cost of all SLL and CIBSE hard copy publications
  • The Society’s newsletter by post six times a year along with the monthly CIBSE Journal
  • Online access to the world renowned research journal, Lighting Research and Technology (LR&T)
  • A wide ranging programme of technical events to help members keep up to date with developments in lighting technology
  • Advance notice of annual events such as Young Lighter of the Year and Ready, Steady, Light.
  • Opportunites to contribute to development of policy and to influence legislation
  • Opportunities to contribute to the development of SLL guidance
  • Use of the designatory letters AMSLL (Associate Member), MSLL (Member) or FSLL (Fellow) as appropriate by professional members
