The ARC Show Unveils Its Very First Curator

The ARC Show is London’s most respected and established lighting show, dedicated to global architectural, retail and commercial lighting.

Now entering its seventh year, the event is excited to announce that for the first time in its history, the show will be working with its very first curator, in the shape of influential British Lighting Designer, Durham Marenghi.

Durham has created the lighting design for a wide variety of theatre, opera, dance, trade, heritage, concert, live event and television productions worldwide. He designed the lighting for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Turin 2006, becoming the first British Lighting Designer to have illuminated an Olympic event. Durham also illuminated the London 2012 Handover at the Beijing Olympic and Paralympics Games.

Commenting on his appointment, Durham said: I am delighted to have been invited to become the first curator of The ARC Show and I hope to bring a real focus on Lighting Design to the event which will be of interest to all those involved in the architectural lighting industry. The ARC Show is unique in its attention to lighting design and I am delighted to be assisting the event team in bringing lighting design to life for all those attending the event. We are putting together an exciting programme of speakers with the IALD and are paying close attention to the atmosphere we wish to create at the event to really highlight excellence in Lighting Design. We aspire to create a real visitor experience to deliver a new vision for the ARC Show and really place the event amongst the highlights of the lighting industry’s events calendar.”

Brand Director Andrew Vaughan noted: “With such an established and well-loved brand as The ARC Show, we envisaged our curator as someone who could bring something new and exciting to the table and that’s exactly what Durham has done. We’re thrilled to be working with such an established and well liked industry leader and look forward to creating a new experience for everyone involved in the 2012 show.”

Held at the Business Design Centre from 29 February – 1 March 2012, in the heart of one of London’s most vibrant areas, The ARC Show 2012 will set the trends and enforce London as the design hub, as the city takes centre stage throughout 2012.T
