Strategies in Light News
This year’s Strategies in Light Europe conference and exhibition aims to be the biggest and best in the event’s six year history, with an outstanding line-up of industry speakers and conference sessions tackling the key issues affecting the development of LED technology.
Taking place on November 17-19 2015 at the ExCeL London Exhibition and Convention Centre, Strategies in Light Europe will also be co-located with LuxLive, attracting over 7,000 professionals from over 52 countries. The combined events encapsulate the entire industry supply chain, from chip manufacturing, through the design community, to the end user.
In addition to a one-day Investor Forum (17 November 2015) and an exhibition floor showcasing leading companies within the LED lighting supply chain, the event offers two days of innovative conference sessions, covering cutting-edge topics affecting the lighting industry.
Focusing on LED technology issues and trends
In a special conference track devoted to ‘Technology Issues and Trends’, presentations will range from developments in LED component technology to luminaire design challenges and opportunities, from outdoor lighting and smart cities to energy aspects of LED lighting and thermal management of LED systems. In the LED component session speakers from Lumileds, Nanoco and Nichia Chemical Europe will address recent advances in chip-scale packaging, quantum dot technology, and phosphor technology, respectively.
Luminaire design challenges
The design of luminaires with LED sources is continuing to evolve as LED form factors, efficiency and color capabilities continue to advance. Addressing luminaire design challenges and opportunities will be speakers from INTEGRATED, LED Linear and LED Professionals. They will address subjects ranging from the impact of LEDs on luminaire design to challenges and applications for linear luminaires to circadian lighting design for offices.
Outdoor lighting and smart cities
In a session on outdoor lighting and smart cities, speakers will address the emerging opportunities for using the outdoor lighting infrastructure as a platform for connectivity to offer a variety of communications, security and other services for cities. Speakers will be from Telensa Ltd., Sensity Systems and Paradox Engineering.
LED lighting and energy
As control systems become more widely adopted in LED lighting, the question arises as to how much energy is being consumed by these controls, what the impact is on actual energy savings, and how to optimally power lighting systems. These issues will addressed by speakers from Energy Piano, Power Integrations and Artistic Licence. A session on thermal management that covers new material and techniques for dealing with heat removal in LED lighting systems will include speakers from Havells-Sylvania, Litecool Ltd. and Cambridge Nanotherm.
