Photometric Testing Announces September Training Workshops on Light Measurement, Photometry & Photobiological Safety

August 14th 2015: UK lighting test specialists Photometric Testing have announced that they will be holding their next training workshops at their Cheltenham laboratory on September 9th – 11th, 2015. The workshops are being held over three days and address Photobiological Safety and BS EN 62471 as well as Practical Photometry, Light and Colour Measurement. A practical training session is offered on the third day where delegates can put the knowledge gained on the previous days into practice with hands-on experience with the latest, state-of-the art measurement equipment in Photometric Testing’s Cheltenham training laboratory. Delegates are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions over the three days.

The training workshop on September 9th addresses Photobiological Safety and has been designed to provide an overview of BS EN 62471 and photobiology, how the standard is implemented, to what it applies and the impact of legislation upon those in the business of making and supplying lighting products. The theory and practicalities of photobiological safety measurements will be explained. Delegates will perform live measurements and calculate a lamp’s risk group in accordance with EN 62471. The legislative framework will also be explained so that delegates will know what they need to do to comply with the regulations.

The training workshops on September 10-11th address Practical Light & Colour Measurement and Photometry and is presented first as theory (day 1) and then with a full day practical session in the laboratory (day 2). This workshop is aimed at those working with LEDs, displays, luminaires or lighting products of any type. Delegates will learn about the jargon and metrics used to express light and lighting and how to properly express the performance of their products. They will also learn how to make accurate measurements of colour and brightness and how to create and manipulate photometric files for lighting design.

The fee for each day is £450 + VAT and registration forms can be downloaded from the Photometric Testing website
