Lighting industry shows support for Designers with Light Forum

Lighting designers, product designers, manufacturers, architects and interior designers come out in their droves to support the show

May Design Series – to be held from the 18th-20th May at London ExCeL – has received a further wave of support from the industry with a raft of big names now signed up to the Lighting sector of the UK’s definitive furnishings fair as well as big name sponsors including Concord, Xicato, Megaman, Lumenpulse, Mike Stoane Lighting, acdc and Anolis.

Designers with Light Forum is a free-to-attend 3 day lighting design conference aimed at bringing together individuals and companies who have not previously had the opportunity to all meet in one space.

Joost Heremans, Associate Partner, Foster + Partners speaking at the show on the subject of ‘learning from architecture in product design’ commented; “The strength of the Designers with Light Forum at May Design Series is the ability to bring together architects, interior designers and product designers; thus creating a crossroad for multi-disciplinary interaction. This interaction generates innovation: an innovation that is driven by the desire to improve the quality of our daily life. Light is a major element to lift the spirit, to raise our well-being. More than complying with all the regulations and technical aspects – it’s the desire to make light visible in the most pleasant way. In the forum large companies stand next to small innovative start-ups, pushing the boundaries of convention.”

Terence Woodgate, owner, Studio Woodgate will share his knowledge on ‘international differences in design’ with Ciaran Kiely at the show and said: “The May Design Series gives a great opportunity to see new work, especially for those who couldn’t make it to Frankfurt or Milan. Lighting technology is changing all the time, so it’s a perfect chance to get up to date with the latest innovations and designs.”

Jonathan Mizzi, Owner, Mizzi Studios will share is expertise on ‘fusing architecture with light’ and said of his involvement: “The show provides a fantastic opportunity to see all the current trends through a range of new and existing products – crucial to push my design team to new levels. Having experts on hand to talk about the details of new technologies is a real bonus allowing us to evolve our work and provide dynamic solutions to architectural challenges we face daily. The Designers with Light Forum is a must for visitors to the show. Being able to get involved or just listen to professionals in their field gives you valuable education as well as the opportunity to network with fellow designers.”

The Designers with Light Forum is supported by IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers), SLL (Society of Light & Lighting) and SBID (Society of British & Interior Design).

May Design Series will bring together the retail and contract communities across 5 design districts, Kitchen + Bathroom, The Furniture Show, DX, Decor and Lighting to create the UK’s definitive furnishings fair.

May Design Series will run from the 18-20 May at ExCeL London. To register for your complimentary pass please visit www.maydesignseries.com
