Independent Online Lighting Retailer Goes Mobile

One of the UK’s leading online lighting retailers is looking to mobile users to grow online sales in the second half of 2011 due to the the popularity of Smartphones such as iPhone and Blackberry.
Midlands based recently launched a mobile friendly version of its website following in the footsteps of major online brands such as Amazon, Argos and John Lewis. Lights2go owner David Nelson has noticed a significant shift in how users access his website; with an ever increasing number using Smartphones and other mobile devices to browse and buy.

Mr Nelson commented, “We’d noticed for some time that mobile visitors we’re spending much less time and viewed fewer pages than typical visitors. A larger proportion of visitors we’re also leaving the site almost immediately, particularly from devices such as the iPhone”.

“By June 2011 we’d seen a 100% rise in traffic received from mobile users since the start of the year and realised that it was time to ensure that we made the most of these visits. A mobile site gives us a much better platform to convert this type of traffic.“, added Mr Nelson.

Users often find it difficult to browse traditional websites on Smartphones as they are designed to be accessed from desktop computers and laptops. Mobile friendly websites are able to overcome issues associated with the small screens by providing a fully functional site presented in a format that’s simple to navigate, making the process of browsing and purchasing easier.

UK Web Design Agency, SAYU Limited, designed and developed the mobile website for Lights2go using their recently launched SayuConnect product that can provide mobile friendly websites to any business or organization with an existing website.

Director at SAYU, Tony Marshall, has led his team in developing during the last 12 months. He commented, “SAYU is reacting to the significant growth in mobile search. The current trends show that the need for mobile websites will be unprecedented during the next 18 months and SayuConnect can enable any business to take full advantage in their sector.”

“Typically we see a 3 to 5 fold increase in conversions from visitors after making a mobile version of a website available. With the relatively low cost and simplicity of mobile integration smaller companies can also get into the market quickly, and not lose ground to their bigger rivals.” added Marshall.

Established in 2005, is an independently owned business and one of the best know online retailers in the lighting sector. The site stocks an extensive range of commercial and domestic lighting products and offers free delivery on all products.
