New Elidy striplight impresses PLASA judges with its ‘Tap Technology’

Chromlech, manufacturer of the Elidy range of panels and strip fixtures, has received an Honourable Mention from the judging panel at the PLASA Awards for Innovation ceremony for their latest product – the Elidy Strip with Tap Technology. The technology allows users to automatically set the DMX address of each fixture simply by touching it, significantly reducing set-up time and simplifying programming.

The PLASA Awards for Innovation ceremony is an annual event celebrating the most innovative new lighting, sound, and video technology from across the industry. This year, an independent panel of expert judges viewed more than 45 products which were presented from the floor of the PLASA Show 2013 exhibition in London’s ExCel Centre. With the awards announcement, the judges said that Chromlech’s Tap Technology “represents an impressive advancement in state-of-the-art entertainment lighting,” adding that they were “very excited about the potential of this concept”.

The new Elidy Strip – an LED striplight composed of either 5 or 15 LEDs – received its debut at the PLASA Show 2013. Elidy Strip is only the latest innovation from Chromlech which launched Elidy panel in 2012, following a string of awards for its Gleamer DMX-controlled, low-voltage dimmer.  The Elidy panel is the world’s first LED matrix fixture capable of projecting volumetric graphics.  Following company tradition, Elidy went on to win the coveted Etoile du SIEL just this year. Also at the PLASA Show 2013, Chromlech introduced Elidy version 2.0 – a software upgrade with new features including Animation Maker.

The popular Elidy has been seen in many uses since its launch including tours with Pink, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Bon Jovi, One Direction, Rammstein, Depeche Mode and Bruno Mars, and television shows including The X Factor, The Voice, and Yves Saint Laurent Fashion Show.

Most recently Elidy has hit the headlines with its spectacular effects on the Mumford and Sons tour where lighting designer Ed Warren’s imaginative use of the panels has really awakened the industry to the full potential of this exciting new fixture.

The Chromlech Elidy range of panels and striplights are available worldwide through Chromlech’s distributor network, details of which can be found on their website at

Chromlech will be exhibiting at LDI (22-24 November, Las Vegas Convention Center) with their US distributor, ACT Lighting, on Booth 1215.
