Applelec light the way with illuminating star product!

A Chamber of Commerce grant has transformed Applelec’s LED Light Sheet with the launch of a new logo and bespoke website, whilst an increase in product sales has lead to the recruitment of two new staff members.

The LED Light Sheet rebrand project has been funded by the award of a grant from the Bradford Chamber of Commerce Kickstart scheme which partnered Applelec with Bradford design consultancy, Dulay Seymour and their web development team Webmotion. The new website, which launched on Tuesday 21st June, features product information along with case studies highlighting the versatility of the lighting unit.

A growth in sales of LED Light Sheet has ensured the product is the star of the Applelec range with overall company turnover for 2011 showing an increase of 19% for the same period in 2010. The increased market awareness of LED Light Sheet coupled with Applelec’s in-house LED expertise provided a platform for the company to take on more complex projects, building relationships with lighting design consultancies and leading to work with companies such as Mulberry and the Natural History Museum. A requirement for new branding and a bespoke product website was identified due to the diverse and expanding applications for which the product is now routinely specified.

The success of the product has led to the creation of several new positions at Applelec during the past twelve months and this momentum was a key element to the success of winning the Kickstart grant. Applelec is now delighted to announce the appointment of a further two members of staff, with further newly created positions currently in recruitment.

Laura Cook has joined the dedicated LED Light Sheet sales team and is based at the company’s Bradford head office. Laura has a degree in graphic design and having previously worked in this field, she will provide a strong creative presence for LED Light Sheet projects in addition to delivering in-house graphic design for Applelec. To help assist with the increase in orders Andy Nuttall has recently joined the LED Light Sheet production department which also takes place at Applelec’s Bradford location. Meanwhile, building work has now begun on the company-funded expansion of the Bradford site which will include a new showroom and double the northern manufacturing space.

Ian Drinkwater, Applelec MD states: “The last twelve months have seen the company grow with a rapidity which refuses to abate. With the success of LED Light Sheet, we are investing profits into the company through our building expansion and staff development to ensure we grow steadily and with purpose. The future is looking decidedly bright and busy for Applelec.”
